A variety of rare US gold coins and bars are to be offered to bidders at an auction in Fort Worth, Texas later this month.Heritage Auction Galleries' Signature US Coin Auction at the American Numismatic Association's National Money Show will feature a range of rarities between March 25th and 28th.
Among these will be seven 1915 Panama-Pacific $50 gold coins, of which three are round and four are octagonal in shape.
Meanwhile, a complete set of all 15 issues of the gold Indian quarter eagle series - first launched in 1908 - from the Atherton Family Collection will also be made available to bidders.
"Every coin in this collection is a highlight in its own right ... The series just doesnt come any finer," commented Greg Rohan, president of Heritage Auction Galleries.
Other highlights include a proof gold issue of the 1906 eagle coin, an 1860 double eagle and a small Harris Marchand & Co gold ingot recovered from the SS Central America.
The National Money Show will also feature a special exhibition of rare coins, including the first and last double eagle coins ever produced, from 1849 and 1933 respectively.
